Perrin Brewing Donates $20,000 to Kids’ Food Basket from Charity Event Ice Jam Winter Festival
Over 1,500 people attacked childhood hunger together through charity, running, and beer
On Saturday, January 28th, 2017 the generous, craft beer-loving folks of West Michigan attended Perrin Brewing’s first Ice Jam Winter Festival, a donation based event designed to benefit Kids’ Food Basket and attack childhood hunger to provide kids in the community with nourishment they need to reach their full potential. This day long event brought in a total of 2,151 pounds of food donations and $20,000 in proceeds.
The Ice Jam Winter Festival kicked off with 475 participants braving the cold in the Frostbite 5K Run/Walk in front of Perrin Brewing. The bundled up runners of all ages as young as 3 to 73 made their way through the snow to join the movement in attacking hunger.
As the warming tent heated up with live music, specialty releases, and delicious treats the pile of food donations from the entrance admissions grew to several pallets worth, totaling in 2,151 pounds of donations. Every donation helps provide a child with a nutritious evening meal so they can be their best in school and life.
“My family have been supporters and believers in Kids’ Food Basket and what they do. This festival and ultimately the donation makes us very proud to take this next step in our partnership,” stated Keith Klopcic, President of Perrin Brewing.
Kids’ Food Basket is a nonprofit organization empowering communities to attack childhood hunger. In West Michigan, 1 in 5 children experiences hunger. Through the Sack Supper Program, kids get a nutritious, ready-to-eat evening meal, ensuring they have the good nutrition they need to thrive, in and beyond the classroom.
Perrin Brewing will be presenting a check to Kids’ Food Basket to celebrate those who joined the attack on childhood hunger and the future of this partnership.
